I didn't count the "missions flew" icons on the side...... but it looked like about 30 or so. Skillful and lucky guys who flew her.  I really was kinda' "awestruck" just looking at it and thinking about the history of such aircraft.

She was impressive at one level...... but if you looked close.... by today's standards they were pretty "chewing gum and bailing wire" type construction.  Not much "meat on the bones".    It took some brave guys to strap into those and fly over some ocean and then into a screen of flack and fighters.

For some reason I am spacing her name right now after JUST being there yesterday (senior moment)..... but I think it is "Memphis Belle".

KASH seems to have a lot of old military stuff around and about.....lots of P-XX fighters seem to be flying out of there.  You recognize the sound of those old engines the minute they start up  ;).  There is a local college flight school that is located out of there too........ Daniel Webster College.  The strip supports a lot of Learjets that are often used as commuters to KBOS (Boston).  (You just about get the gear up and you are asking for landing clearance  ;)

In the fs2004 sim..... the layout is better than it was in fs2002..... but is still off quite a bit.  I just "AFCADed" more realistic parking into it.  I was working on a photoreal type redo in FS2002... I may pick up on that again when I get a chance (homebuilt cockpit takes all the time now).  I already have the photos shot from all around the airport to get the accurate textures.

If you look closely she has markings identical to those of the memphis belle.

that must be a repaint of a b-17 to look like the belle... the real memphis belle resides at a restoration care center at the millington municiple airport in memphis tennessee. There are many warbirds painted to look like their more famous siblings.

the mission flown markings indicate obviously the number of missions the belle flew... some of these markings have yellow or red stars obove them. The red stars signify that the aircraft lead the bomb group, yellow stars show that she lead the entire wing.

this belle also lacks the "star" wheel covers worn by the real belle.

Would that be 25 mission markings then...

Look's like it's David Tallichet's B-17F (see the link below)
