Great news! I might be starting flying lessons this weekend in a 152 at--get this--63 bucks an hour, instructor included in that price. The reason I may not do it is because of the fact that my grandmother is hospitalized and may not be released this weekend. (I hope she is. ) I will however, if not this weekend, start ASAP. I can't wait! I will post pics!

I went to the airport on Monday and saw the C-152 I am to fly. I never realized how tiny they are. I am only five feet tall and actually had to duck under the wing. I could also reach the rudder pedals! I will take my first lesson soon, hopefully within the next week.

i am worried now, if your only 5feet tall and ducking under the wing, that doesnt look good when i go over there and learn on the same thing as i am 6'1 in shoes:)
at least with the piper cherokee theres no ducking:)

Awesome - your first lesson will be one to remember. as for the 152 - yeah, I could fit into one of those back when I was like 16-17.  Now at 6'3", 240lbs, anything less than a 172 is asking for trouble.

LOL. Yeah, well I am thirteen, five feet one, and one hundred and three pounds, so I can pretty easily fit into it. However, I am concerned that it will be a tough ride in that little bitty sucker, especially with the 100 degree plus Texas weather...turbulence, turbulence, turbulence.
This really won't be my first lesson though; I went up wth my uncle who is a CFII last summer, and I remember it VERY well. But that is beside the point and as I said before, I will try to post pics.

Well, I went up today. It was GREAT! I did VERY well, according to my instructor, who told me that most of his students that he takes up for te first time give him a white-knuckle ride. I took off, and even did most of the landing myself. It was also my first time to ever talk to ATC and the only thing I messed up on was my request for taxi clearance. He told my mom that I knew quite a bit and that it came as a pleasant surprise. He was also alot of fun, and he was about twenty-three, only ten years older than I. I will post pics in a minute.

I'd like to know where your renting for 63 bucks an hour . I just did my BFR a couple of weeks ago and the best deal i could find around here ( northern Arkansas) was a Skyhawk for $120/hr plus $40/hr for the instructor. at these prices I'll be a ground pounder again before too long.

Well, you aren't TOO far away from me. I fly out of KGGG (Gregg Conty Airport.) I fly in a VERY NICE 1977 Cessna 150. It's actually 68 for an hour because this instructor charges 25 and hour. Buddy, with those kinds of prices, that plane had better be brand new and loaded to the brim with avionics or you are getting screwed pretty badly. If you plan to continue, I suggest you either find a gold mine or find an airport with better prices.  ;)
