Oh-oh, another 189 reasons not to fly!

Not looking good for max8.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/ ... 10-jakarta

“Lion Air’s chief executive, Edward Sirait, told reporters the plane had suffered “a technical issue” on Sunday night but engineers had cleared it to fly on Monday morning.”

“This plane previously flew from Denpasar to Jakarta,” he said. “There was a report of a technical issue which had been resolved according to procedure.”

“Sirait did not elaborate on the specific issue, and said he had no plans to ground the rest of Lion Air’s Max 8 fleet. The airline operates 11 of the Boeing planes.”

I would certainly want to know what the “technical issue” was before getting on to a 737 max 8! Give me a good old Dak every time – no computers, no B/S. :snooty:

My heart goes out to the loved ones of the passengers. Questions will be asked that can never be answered. Crap happens to good people and the bad keep shooting innocent worshippers. What happened to the world we grew up in?

Estimates are that over 100,000 flights occur every day, safely and without incident. Thinking up reasons to not fly might as well lead to reasons to never go outside your home, considering what the risks truly are. That said, flying does scare many normal, healthy people. My dear old mom would never, ever set foot in a plane for any reason, was just too scared.

Correction – 190 reasons!

It would appear from various internet sources that there may be a generic problem with airspeed instrumentation and stabilisation on the 737 max.

.
Fear is the mind killer much more than flying is. https://flyfright.com/overcomingfear/ Learn to say "No!" to fear.

It is an awful and sad thing. Another awful thing as far as I am concerned is the tone of the name of this thread. "Oh-oh, another 189 reasons not to fly!" comes across as jokey or irreverent which is appalling to my mind. These are peoples lives that have bee cut short and the trauma suffered by loved ones is immense. Let us not make cheap comments.
