Very interesting Doug. Too many brave young airmen were lost during WWII.

However, I would take issue with this statement in the article.

While bigger, more heavily armed bombers like the Lancaster and B-17 lumbered along with their massive payloads, the all-wood, lightly armed “Mossie” could fly lower, higher, faster, farther, albeit with a fraction of the hitting power.

The B Mk IV bomber variant of the Mossie could carry a handy payload of 4,000 lbs, that's similar to the capacity of the B-17 on long range missions. This was partly due to the Mosquito being unarmed due to its high operational speed.
I don't think many people realise that it was also modified to carry a smaller version of the Barnes Wallis "Highball" mine as used in the famous Dambuster raid. The first raid was intended to attack the Tirpitz battleship, each Mossie carrying two mines. This mission was aborted when the ship was moved to a different location.
