Old school, for sure. As far as VME cards being old, when the B-52 CPT was built, VME's were twinkles in some engineers eye.

I think that someone who was young when computers were still rare can appreciate it a lot more.

Heck, I remember reading a Popular Science article about LASERs being invented, and I'm sure that Paul remembers when trees were invented. :D

On the laser part, I recall thinking "This may be fine in a laboratory with ruby lens and all that power, but how useful will it ever be?" :oops:

Thanks, Steve. I flew DC-8's for Eastern Airlines in 1969-1970 when, of course, we only had nighttime graphics like these images show. I later flew Sikorsky S-76 simulators up through 2003 which had color but were still nighttime only. The resolution had gotten much better but daytime color would have been terrific!
