A few pictures from the train to Philadelphia.One thing that you can't see is how desolate the open prairie is, even with the huge areas being farmed. With "big agriculture" you can have thousands of acers farmed without any houses around. In that sense, it's like the 1800s again.
The pictures that I have just don't convey how far away everything is.
We make light of the old cowboys hanging hoarse thieves, but if you were left without a horse in many of the places where a train now passes through, you'd be dead within days from lack of water.
