Thanks Matt for the info its no Vulcan but I would have preferred something a bit more exciting like an EE Lightning, still Canberras are cool used to see them quite often over Lincolnshire.

The Lightning would have happened by now had the CAA ever allowed it! That said there may be Phantoms above alincolnshire again soon.

As for the Canberra - a good choice. Some may wonder why they didn't bid for the more recently airworthy PR9 but the bomber version, particularly in the form of the altitude record breaking '163 probably has more of a selling point. I remember watching it being displayed by Dan Griffith in the 1990s and it was an impressive aircraft to watch. Add to the fact the WK163 was operated successfully on the circuit for over a decade and it seems a logical progression.

Yes, the Canberra is a very good choice as it has already been done with great success.
What is the griff of Phantoms Charlie, have the CAA had a change of heart, they put a stop to the Old Flying Machine Company displaying the one that was donated to Duxford back in the early 90's. I seem to recall Mark Hanna (RIP) was set to be the pilot as he was former Phantom pilot, but as with the Lightning it was deemed to be was too complex to allow on the civilian register. Probably why we will never see a Tornado or Jaguar etc....... :(

HHA, who operate ex-Swiss Hunters on the military register (all with ZZ serials) out of Scampton, are allegedly looking into it for contract work. As it happens, they started operating with some ex-OFMC pilots way back when.
