Airbus People Pods ??

OK - this is getting ridlicious, like in beyond stupid !

So, supposedly sum Guru' at AIRBUS, has come up with some Ridlicious idea on how to board passengers on Jetliners now.

His idea is to put you in a "People POD", then load that "POD" onto the Aircraft :o

Now I dunno' about you all, but I'd rather actually lounge around the Airport, being able to walk around, sit or go outside or go to a restaurant grab sum Eats, then sit around in some POD waiting for the plane to arrive, for hours on end.

I can already see this thing, Stuck and Frozen in mid Air with 300 passengers stuck up in the Air, for 3 hours !

Hydraulic Failure, Electrical Dysfunction , whatever, and they won't let you out of the thing while its Dangling in the Air

its like its something sum 7 yr.old dreamed up from one his Matchbox Toys or something ?????

How about getting back to actual Passenger comfort, like Decent Quality Seating, instead of this Rubbish their tryin to pitch everybody with those Ultra Thin Cardboard looking plastic seats their putting on Jets, like its the coolest thing since the 1970's L-1011 or 747 which had way more comfortable seating then the Cardboard hard Vinyl Seating their tryin to sell everybody on now days

Next thing ya' know, they be tryin to push the idea of Passengers Hanging on to Ropes, along for the ride and ya can just drop off whenever ya want

I don't see this as anything beneficial to the Airlines or Airports really, Airports would have to Build special waiting areas to accommodate those Contramptions which would be Expensive as well as the Special over-head equipment to move the PODS :shifty:

PODS, Ya' got to be kidding !!!

Not that new
Passengers travelling to the Chatham Islands from Wellington NZ used to go in "pods" in Bristol Freighter 170s.

(From Wiki)
SAFE Air

Chatham Islands Passenger Services[edit]

New Zealand's most eastern home islands, the Chatham Islands were linked with the main islands of New Zealand with a combined air freight and passenger service using a unique removable passenger pod that was placed into the hold of their Bristol Freighter aircraft. Extra sound insulation was used to drown out the Bristol's Hercules engines and earplugs were provided. Windows in the pod lined up with those in the fuselage. The flight time was approximately three hours.

In 1982 when the paved runway at Tu-uta Point was built, Argosy aircraft were placed into the Chathams' route with a more comfortable passenger pod based on the cabin of a Boeing 737. The pod still exists today, placed in the hold of ZK-SAE on static display at Blenheim. When flying operations ceased in 1990 Air New Zealand continued operations with other aircraft, Air Chathams was founded to keep the air route open when Air New Zealand pulled out in 1992.

An updated version was used in AW Argosy freighters which had more comfortable seating

I'm not sure what would have happened if the passengers needed to get out in a hurry

I suspect it's just a patent for the sake of patenting an idea. It's all very well having people pods etc but seeing as the luggage will have to go somewhere and the rest of the airframe would have to be considerably stronger (heavier) I can't see it taking off.

Exactly, it is just patenting something before the opposition thinks of it. Who knows what aviation looks like in 50 to 100 years. They are just covering all bases (and arses) just in case.

Actually - passengers feeding directly into seats from/in the terminal sounds like logical progression to me. In fact it makes the idea of feeding through jetways or climbing up stairs sound old.

Not a million miles away from the old Washington Dulles "mobile lounges". ^-^

Engineering wise, I find the patented design difficult to be practicable with current volume production techniques and designs.

Just imagine - The hoisting mechanism breaks.

Obviously they can't take risks with so many people suspended in the air.

Also, it's quite obvious that there is no toilet in the "people pod".

How bad could it get anyway?

Passengers stuck on plane for nearly 28 hours land at SFO

Affirmative, getting ready to intercept thread now and attempt communication with the Humanoids

Transmission as follows to the Humanoids

Understand you have problems with Travel ??

We here have our own Unique way of Traveling anywhere in the Universe within milli'seconds we can be anywhere anytime

The Development Process is far beyond you Humanoids capability at the current moment givin the state of your Technology

Currently we use the EON' technology which can split Atoms into molecular particles for which to transfer atoms at high speed

Once the Atoms are Spilt we then can go Atomspheric Array Isotope which enables universal motion

To see a Demonstration watch this Video - Humanoids

Transmission to Humanoids Complete

This flight would have made the new for another reason......At the 12 hour point, I imagine quite a few people would have followed me down the overwing escape slide..............
