I live just around the corner from Bovingdon, I used to drive on the airfield when I was learning to drive :-)

Where they flew Mosquitos even lower... and with the wheels up.

Interesting to see that this one's tail wheel was left down...

Yes I was wondering about that, an improv tail skid if the aircraft pulled up too hard.....?

It's something frangible should one get a little too low and slow and pull back a bit too much perhaps!

Some low pases had the tail wheel tucked in, the first low pass has partly out main gear. Must be for different situations on the same film.

The first lshot was a low level climb out, the gear was being retracted. The first low pass was that, a low pass. Look at the following, they were very low passes. One these the tail wheel is left extended. A good pull up and the a tail strike might happen.....?
