Helicopters and internal combustion engines I have always thought to be odd bed partners...... :?

I saw something like that last christmas when my son brought home a gift for my grandson. This looks good but I would be checking the oil and the jesus nuts regularly. More power to the geeks who came up with this....but I will stick to something a whole lot safer for now.

Very similar flying characteristics to the simple Gyrocopter/Gyroplane.

One of my favourite fun little aircraft: Bensen B8...>>> http://www.vortechonline.com/bensen/

...and a Barnett...>>> http://www.rotorcraft.com/barnett/

Two of a number of examples available for FS 2004 and FSX!

Lots of fun to be had!...>>> https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Gyroc ... B900%3B720

Paul....gyro-copting on a sunny afternoon!.... :D ...!

Even after 15+ years of Sim flying I still find Helicopters impossible to manage...but Gyrocopters are easy-peasy!... ...!

But the thing about gyrocopters Paul, is if the engine fails, it was never powering the rotas in the first place......

.... ....!

The thing I love about Gyro's; because the rotor is just a free-wheeling rotating wing during normal flight, if the engine fails during flight, the craft still continues to fly, with the rotating wing still providing lift, and the pilot gently manoeuvres it to the ground under full control.
Providing that air is passing over and under the rotor blades, it will continue to rotate freely, providing lift!
The engine is only used to pre-rotate the rotor on the ground via a flexible drive; once the rotor is up to speed it is disconnected from the engine (gearbox), and then the engine merely provides forward thrust!
There is no direct connection between the engine and the rotor, as there is in a Helicopter!
...fascinating little machines!
Well worth trying out in the Flight Sim!
...go on...your will love it!...trust me... ...!
