Shocking for all in air racing Lee Behel, Sport Class president, jet class racer, holder of 5 records, and all-around wonderful ambassador for aviation lost his life on 'High G Ridge' of the sport class course while attempting to qualify in the V8 powered wooden racer GP-5.

This flat-out sucks.

Lee teamed up with Lancair in the 90s to create the Sport Class and was a big part of internal Lancair history.

Way to early to speculate on what happened.
