NEED HELP FINDING ENGINE PRICE

NEED HELP ASAP

I am working on an aircraft design project for class and we are using the Pratt and Whitney PW127G turbo prop. Right now we are doing cost calcs, unfortunately we need the engine price. A ball park (with in a few thousand $$) will suffice.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I bet they are a lot more expensive than a flat-4-cylinder Avco Lycoming normally aspirated, push-rod, piston engine!... :shock: ...!

Paul....couldn't find any prices... :roll: ...!

i'm gonna take an un-educated guess, that i'd say it be under a Billion Dollars, just a hunch, but what do I know ?

I haven't been able to find a "G" model but I did find an "F". "Overhauled" asking price is $1,500,000.00. It's located in France. A "G" version will be relatively close in cost.

Not sure how deep you will go with your project, but having worked on the PW100 series from 121 to 127, they are a labour intensive engine and if you can make 6000 hours on wing before they have to be changed, then it is time to get the Champagne out. So if you have to calculate maintenance too, err on the expensive side.

Matt, we have a method to estimate maintenance costs we are supposed to follow from the book. Yeah it makes little sense to me as well. I would think we should have had to at least look up TBOs. I did try using the normal 'reality' measures of an engine like TBOs but the professor said my methods were not "robust"....in other words, I did not use an equation from the text book so he was unhappy.

We went into the most detail of any group. Did manufacturing/development cost estimation, pitch/yaw stability, SolidWorks model, and we built a scale-model of our aircraft out of balsa wood and painted it (it is 17in long).
