Sad to see this happen, I had seen his beautiful Corsair at Oshkosh. Heck its the only picture from Oshkosh this year with me in it!

Those props look pretty big next to my skinny frame don't they?

For size reference of how big those things are, I am a couple of inches below 6ft tall.

A small consolation is that of course he had restored two Super Corsairs, so at least "Race 57" can keep flying in his memory.

Yes sir, that is a beautiful one as well. I have some not-so great pictures of that one at Oshkosh in '08.

I apologize for any size issues, resolution, and the white border on one shot. Some times it takes drastic measures to get images to upload on here!

The last pic illustrates the very good reason for putting a kink in the wings....

...to keep the tips of that big prop off the ground... ;D...!

Its a bit of an animal!

Paul.... :)...!

Yes in deed they are! There were only 10 production Super Corsairs built, two shown above. The Super Corsair has basically another row of cylinders and 1,000hp more than your standard WW2 or Korean War Corsair...and man are they impressive to hear!
