Shame the MOD can't spell....
Tomorrow 18 October 2007

Defenec Minister Mr Twigg to present medals to Henry Francis who recently had his medals stolen.

Vulcan bomber expected to take off from Bruntingthorpe Airfield today for a test flight.

Of all the words to get wrong...

And Mr Twigg is only the Under Secretary of State for Defence...

Des Browne is our (part time) Defence Minister.

Mind you, I expect nothing less from the MoD... ::)

This has been reported on other forums, but Sky and BBC have confirmed it as today, and Brunty have a live outdoor webcam. I'm trying to convince Tweek to get out and get us some shots  ;) ;D

Patience children, if you get all excited you can bet the weather will clamp ;)

Nah, we're set for a couple of days of clear skies, and freezing colds nights. ::) :'(

And in the context of test flights, how is that a bad thing? (Judging by emoticon use...)

Craig doesn't like the cold. And having lived in Canada, it makes no sense I know. ::)

That's irrelevant to the Vulcan's test flight though isn't it. ;)

Where did I say it had anything to do with it?
Mark said it would rain if we talked about, I assured him it would be clear and cold, I added a personal feeling about it being cold. That is all. ;) ::)

My big worry is that this event will get little coverage thanks to the news in Pakistan.
Right now theres nothing on news24 or sky. :-/

It hasn't flown yet. I daresay that if & when it does there will be plenty of news coverage.

It's supposed to be shown live on both/either Sky News and BBC News 24.

At 11:30, apparently.

Sadly even Sky News Multiscreen is completely dominated by Mrs B...

Hopefully though as doug says, once it goes up, some screen will be given to it for full coverage. BBC is on the hospital bug on their multiscreen ::)
Burritos and bugs, what a day for a first flights.

Let's be realistic about this. Whatever aviation enthusiasts might like to think the first flight of a restored vintage aircraft is a minor event in the general scheme of things.

Depends really. when our money has been spent on this project, and when it is a pretty big thing locally, I dont see how some possibly corrupt politician returning home halfway round the world, deserves any more time than this.

Mind you, when you consider the media coverage given to the rollout last year, it would be unusual for them not to cover the first flight.

At the risk of getting political, current events in Pakistan could very well affect the stability of that whole part of the world for years to come. This is an international matter & is far more important than flying an antique aeroplane.

Not today it isn't... ;) ;D BBC have now left Karachi, so hopefully there will be scope in their schedule for it...
