Edwards AFB is around 24000ft off the top of my head - although I think only about 2/3rds of that is concrete: Flashearth Edwards AFB

Prince Sultan AB (PSAB) in Saudi Arabia is around 15,000ft: Flashearth PSAB

The longest in Europe is the Istres test centre in France IIRC at around 16,000ft (although most internet places seem to no quote it as 12000ft now, which would make it shorter than Heathrow at 13000ft): Flashearth Istres.

Type in "worlds longest runways" to google... :)

I think it very much depends on how much of the lake bed they put markings on! ;D

In MS FS5 there was one in Germany which was a little over 1000ft... 1039ft if my memory serves me right... Which would be a very sad fact to remember! ;D

Here is a list of the shortest in the USA    http://www.myafd.com/top10/shortest_runways.asp

Saba's in the Carribean is 400 meters long...

In 1963 the island had built a 400 metre landing strip for easier trips to the island by flight: Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport. It is one of the shortest commercial runway in the world, and as such, only three models of airplane are approved for landing.

Quote from Wikipedia.

As for the longest, heres a list of them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_longest_runways

Edwards is metioned at the bottom!!!

Just had a measure in google earth. Istres is indeed the longest in Europe in terms of concrete, at 18,000ft! However, the published distance is a little over 12,000ft. :)

What about where the Space Shuttle lands? that has got to be pretty long since it does not have thrust reverser's.
as far as short, I guess where a C-130 type plane can land the shortest would be it.

I think Portland (EGDP) has the shortest land based runway...

It's quite fun to take some FS9 Military power from that airport...Test out the real STOL capabilities of any given aircraft... ;)

I believe Edward's main runway is the longest... at 7.5 miles :o

And yes, that's all marked.

If you include the whole Lake Bed...  :o :o
