Offset gunsite in German WW II Fighters - why ?

Postby Gringo6 » Sun Dec 23, 2012 11:31 am

Cockpit photographs of the Bf-109 and the Fw-190 show the gunsite offset to the right. These photos also seem to indicate that the pilot seat was on the aircraft centerline and not offset.

I can't figure out why they did this. I'm sure they had a reason.

Can anybody explain this ?

Thanks, and Merry Christmas

Same on the P-40. I noticed it the other day whilst perusing work's communal copy of Pilot. :)
