Deltla buys oil refinery1

One way of helping with the high oil price.

Delta Air Lines buys an oil refinery. I wonder how many will follow suit?

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

I doubt the margins will offset the purchase price, but I guess it is thinking outside of the box.

Well if your buying crude at market price right now, you could likely sell yourself some cheaper fuel. But buying a refinery could open a whole new can of worms. Enviromental, unions, regulations and breakdowns. (Nothing against unions, but they can stop production.)

Yeah they cut out the middle man, now lets see if that translates to lower ticket prices...

That would be interesting. ;D

But I think they will just sell the crude rather than use it.

It isn't the petrol stations or the refineries...
Its the governmenr, most of what you pay on oil goes to the government so they can go on expensive holidays...
