I think it is- heard this mentioned elsewhere.
I don't have a subscription, and it hasn't hit the stands yet, so i haven't seen it.
What's the name of the author?

Bob O'Quinn is the name at the top of the page.

also the terrain was snow covered, he mentioned that the "student" wanted to take pictures of the snow covered terrain.

it mentions and the aircraft landed on runway 30... but no other mention of what airport it was etc.

said it was a Cessna 140

I was out today and saw a copy for sale... must have just come out.

Yes, it's definitely "my" story, with the N-number changed for some reason. Illustrator Barry Ross sure knows how to draw a 140, but he made ol' 27V look a lot prettier than she really is. ;)
It reads pretty much as I remember it, although I could have sworn that I was reassuring him,not the other way around. :D It was a tense few minutes, for sure, and the most bizarre malfunction I have ever experienced in an airplane... probably the weirdest I'll ever experience.

Cool, that's my favorite part of that magazine. 8-)

Congratulations on getting in there Sean, and I can't wait to read it when I get my copy.

For those of us who haven't heard or read the story, do you mind recounting the tale Rotty?

BTW, I understand 27V is back in action; there's a poster at the Int'l Cessna 120/140 board who's been flying it regularly.  :) This could be the only Cessna 140 still available for rental (solo) in the US.
