'Robin Hood' Airport

Postby todayshorse » Wed Jun 11, 2008 10:34 am

Dont know if this is in the correct bit but ill ask anyway!

Went there today to drop off some people flying out. Ive been before but now you cant get near the terminal other than paying for parking if your more than 15 minutes......as at most airports

There was a nice looking A300 (or A310 couldnt really tell) freighter right near the car park next to the terminal, i had my Nikon with me on the chance of getting somthing interesting but for the life of me couldnt see where i could go without paying some silly amount so i could walk down and get some pictures!!!  Double yellows everywhere, and all that stuff...

Anyone being there before and know a good spot? Going back next week so going to go a little early and have a wander, but i dont want to get carted off by the police or other authorities nor pay loads of money for a few minutes parking!!!

Any little tips appreciated :D

Robin Hood Airport. Never been there myself but I always thought that was a stupid name for an airport in Yorkshire. ::)

I found the unofficial website if it's some help. They have spotter's guide here  --> http://www.egcn.co.uk/spotter.htm

Thanks for that!! Never thought of looking for that info on the net for some strange reason!

Yeah i dont know why they call it that, although on the way home to Lincs i noted i did pass a 'welcome to nottinghamshire' sign near the westwoodside area. Didnt pass a 'your leaving nottinghamshire' sign however!

Much better if they just stuck with Finningley - used to be a phantom base many many many many years ago i recall from somewhere :-?
