Not much to say about this one; I prove that I can properly perform the stalls by the numbers (particularly tasty "approach stall") but when C. tests my engine-out preparedness, I'm in a complacent mode, casually chatting about where I might land, and deciding to forego a restart as I'm already at 1100MSL...
"Come on, you're gonna fail your checkride unless you do this by the book! As soon as I pull the throttle, you should be:
'Best glide, fuel, mix, carb heat, primer, ignition'...
"At this height, you have plenty of time to try a restart- especially with a landing place in sight!"
Ouch. My performance on the last flight with J. means little now. It's a challenge being consistent, and in this game (which is played for keeps) it's very important.
I ought to be able to do these things by rote and by the numbers at the drop of a hat, anytime, anyplace.
I've been too lazy lately to do much chair-flying, and it's showing.
After a few S-turns, steep turns (well-executed; I'm in the mood to just maneuver around), and a bit of turning around a point, we head back for a full-pattern approach to 01.
I touch down nice and short, well before the runway intersection. No money for some solo time today, but I'm scheduled for another supervised solo this week, then a review, then my first unsupervised solo.
Next- flight 48: some bonus solo time
