Two people have died after an Army helicopter crashed in Devon.

The Squirrel helicopter came down in dense woodland near Kingscott, Torrington, at 1545 BST. An air exclusion zone has been put in place.

One crew member was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was flown to North Devon District Hospital but died later from his injuries.

An eyewitness told BBC News the training helicopter hit power lines before crashing.

Terrible news, what makes it even worse that it was a trainer- possibly someone just starting out on the Forces career

I don't think it was one of the Shawbury ones, I've seen elsewhere that it may have been from Wallop but I don't know where else the Squirrels are based.

not good news

Latest from the BBC is that it was from Middle Wallop, and that the aircraft was on its final excercise of a training course. Don't know whether that means it was the last of the day or if the Pilot was just about to finish that part of his training
