The good thing about the path I mentioned; is that a major university isn't out to make a profit out of their FBO. It's just an extension of the whole multi-billion dollar university. They don't look to make money off of student pilots, any more than the chemistry college would look to turn a big profit out of lab fees.

wow, knew this would be a good place to ask! Thanks for taking the time to reply everyone!

Awesome stuff Rottydaddy! Loads of info there!! Will have to read in more detail later today, kinda pushed for time this second tho!

As for this not being the best idea in the world career wise, i guess you guys are probably right...but its something i have always wanted to do, and this is probably going to be the only time in my life where i have the time and the cash to go over there and do it so easily! (+ keep promising the girlfriend to take her flying, she'd never forgive me if i don't  ;D)

V.good point with the Visa stuff aswell Craig, i've heard it can be a nightmare! To be honest i have sorta been overlooking that aspect, not quite as interesting as the other aspects of the trip! Totally right though, needs to be sorted ASAP...! hmmmm, something fun for me to do tomorrow!

The map link is really cool Hagar! Hadnt looked at that yet, pretty awesome scenery...sweet looking beach also! Definate plus points in my book  ;D

As for the RAF thing, i might go into the recruitment centre tommorrow and have a word with them. Like i said before, i had wanted to wait for the A in Physics...but everyone i have spoken to said its for more aptitude related than to do with grades...! I really don't wanna apply right now, but i know i will end up doing it...oh well!

Thankyou all  :)

Anyway, if you intend joining the RAF I would take Charlie's advice. It could save you a lot of money.

And several hundred hours later I still haven't got a PPL, and have just run out of SEP currency too! Doh!

OBA are certainly one of the more well known "ex-pat" Florida operators, and I've never seen any bad press about them.

Aptitude, attitude and potential as an officer. And as I mentioned before, don't worry about A-level grades. Mine were terrible... :) C,D & E :)
