
Boeing Co. said that it's finalized a deal for 24 787 airplanes with British Airways worth $4.4 billion at list prices.
The London-based airline is buying eight 787-8 planes and 16 787-9 planes. It also placed options for 18 other 787s and purchase rights for another 10.
The British airline selected Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines for its 787s.
The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) 787-8 will carry up to 250 passengers on routes up to 8,200 miles and the 787-9 will carry up to 290 passengers on routes up to 8,500 miles.
The 787 is built in Everett, Wash.Parts are made at Spirit AeroSystems Inc. (NYSE: SPR) in Wichita.
