Useless IMO

Especially when you have to land a space shuttle. ::)

How often does that happen? Every six months? Still useless... ::)

And from what I've heard, the shuttle is being phased out soon :P

Moses Lake is where Boeing tests new aircraft before delivery... it's a short flight from Seattle, usually empty, and has a 16000 foot or so runway. It's not the biggest, but it's damn big. :)

What else is Edwards AFB going to use 9 miles of dry lakebed?  Seems the whole desert around there is useless; someone get rid of it - quick! ;D ;)

The Shuttle lands on a paved section of the runway at Edwards AFB, it's actually not much longer than International airports. The rest is a dry lake bed with markings to make it appear to be a runway.

You also have to renember that Edwards is used for testing aircraft. If they ever have a problem, then be glad that it is Edwards. :)

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
