WWWWWWWWWWRONG!!!!!!!!

contrary to popular belief, BA operated concorde with huge profitability for lengthy periods of time, including after the concorde crash. What did for it was Airbus' cutting of replacement part supply.

Mmm, but that's a lot easier when you virtually didn't have to pay for the aircraft in the first place, and when tickets were generally several times times the price of a normal economy of business class fair across the pond. I expect if they (AF and BA) had paid cost price for the aircraft and its development, they may have made a little less of a profit to say the least!

Not sure on that one... anyway, point is concorde wasn't necessarily an unprofitable venture.

For the airlines it was certainly profitable... ;D For the British and French goverments who covered the deficit, probably not! ;D

Make that the long-suffering British & French taxpayers, including me. Governments have no funds of their own. :P

I find it funny on SimV how a topic about the A380 could turn into an argument about Concorde.  ;D

We should get Ronnie Corbett to do one of his monologues!!! ;D

P.S., if you don't understand this, you never will.

How to make a simple informative topic (A380 to Brussels) into an informative discussion on the merits of Ronnie Corbett, via the financial and political background of the procurement of Concorde.

That's what makes us unique! ;D
