Accident in Pau

Postby ozzy72 » Fri Jan 26, 2007 8:03 am

A plane carrying more than 50 people has skidded off a runway in France, hitting a lorry and killing the driver.
No-one on board the plane was hurt. The Fokker 100 aircraft was taking off from Pau in south-west France on a flight to the capital, Paris.
The incident happened after a bird flew into one of the engines, the Transport Ministry said.
Those on board the Regional Airlines plane were evacuated, and were shocked but unhurt, officials said.
The lorry involved was a public works vehicle which was travelling on a road around the airport, the ministry said.
The aircraft came to a halt several hundred metres after hitting the lorry.
An inquiry into the accident is under way.
