Flight Journal: flight 05 - part 2

Before I remember to look for my floating home, the cabin cruiser Aphrodite, moored near Liberty State Park, we have passed the marina and E. is directing me to descend a bit for a turn around the statue, known on this CTAF as "The Lady". She looks rather small from up here, but I am feeling a little impressed.
We then climb northeast, across the mouth of the river towards Governor's Island, then turn north to follow the east bank, passing the Battery, and then the Twin Towers are looming off the right wing, their high rooftops actually above us.

There is time left for more hard work, so E. directs me back to the practice area, where I try some steep 360s. During one turn he devilishly covers some instruments with small rubber discs, forcing me to rely on the view outside and feel. despite his trickery, I do fairly well. I've heard of this fiendish ploy, so it's no big surprise.
The weather starts to close in from the southwest- a rapidly advancing line of low, dark clouds. I can see light snow falling beneath them. Time to go home.
In order to get us on the ground before we get caught in the snow, E. takes over and brings us in a little more quickly than usual.
during the postflight briefing, E. is very encouraging; says I'm doing very well. He also tells me this will be our last lesson together, as he's taking a job flying in the Caribbean. I am very happy for him, but disappointed to be losing a good instructor so soon.
