It is the youngest Vulcan still in existence, but CAA issues grounded her from almost the day she went civilian. She would probably have been the best candidate to get airworthy again, but was left in the open for a long time neglected, so it is no longer economical

XH558 must always have been the sensible candidate, purely as she was the last to fly in service, and from the day she arrived at Bruntinghorpe she was maintained with the view to becoming airborne again. XL426 at Southend would have been a bizarre choice as I believe '558 replaced it as the RAF VDF Jet in the mid 80s...
