RAF DC-3...

Postby EGNX » Fri Jun 30, 2006 6:44 am

...Just flew right over my house at around 2000 ft. Heading westerly. This is the second time ive seen it in about in a couple months ( I think its the same one ). My guess is its heading out RAF Cottesmore's way.

Nearly got some pictures but couldn't find the camera in time.! :'(

Any one with info on where its from or where its going?

Cheers  ;)

The only place that I can think it was going, is to RAF Waddington, for the airshow tomorrow. However, I don't know why it would be heading westerly, over your area, as Coningsby (it's home base) would be to the North East, and Waddington, a bit further to the west of that. This, of course, is whether it was the BBMF DC3 (brown/green camo). Else, it could have been from Air Atlantique (RAF transport colours, white/blue).

This was what it looked like. With the white stripes under each wing.

Any ideas?

I don't think the BBMF Dak has D-Day stripes. It was possibly the one belonging to Aces High at North Weald.

I took this at the Biggin Hill Air Fair earlier this month where it was on static display.

BBMF Dak does not have invasion stripes. It did a few years back. "Fifi Kate" has them but I think this aircraft has gone back over seas now so Hagar is most likey correct about the identity of this aircraft.

Indeed it can. The markings are changed regularly for film work.
