RJ Mitchell International Airport?

Seems like someone's going to name an airport after someone aviation related at last... (Not being a fan of celebrity/popular culture renamings (John Lennon, George Best, Robin Hood :P )

I don't understand this trend for renaming long-established airports. What's wrong with Southampton Airport - or Eastleigh? ::)

Well yes, it'll always be Eastleigh to me, but to be fair, if they are going to rename it, then R J Mitchell would be preferable... Could be worse...

Local election time. What better way to get a little support than going after the publics soft and often gullible side when it comes to patriotism.
