Hi Bman, were you invited to any ceremony with your history with the aircraft?

No sadly, there must have been thousands of pilots over the years that the 'cat was in duty.
Sincerely,

I wanted to fly the Cat as well. But other circumstances forbid that. (Damn glasses) Hopefully in the next 6 years the Corps, or the DoD will change is mind about LASIK. If they do, I'm going to be the first one in line, if they don't, expect me to be commanding a platoon of Marines in whatever hellhole they send me to in 6-8 years.

Very sad, i loved that plane, remember watching TopGun almost everyday after school daydreaming about one day flying that plane. It is and will always remain on my top 3 fav planes of all time lists.

Funny you should say that...

I saw on a Discovery show that everyone wanted to fly the f-14 when Top Gun came out.  A pilot was assigned to an A6 Intruder.  He learned to love it.  And was sad to see it go...
My first flight in a 172 on August 20, 2004
