Katrina Damage Satellite Photos

Postby MIKE JG » Tue Sep 06, 2005 10:00 pm

This is a link to a webpage operated by NOAA through the National Weather Service here in the states.  It is an index of satellite photos taken a couple days after hurricane Katrina destroyed 90,000 square miles of the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The pictures below are just a couple of images from the thousands of images that are available to look at.  I have edited them to highlight some of the damage and the locations.

Unbelievable... imagine how many storms that lighthouse has weathered, and Katrina just swatted it aside  like it was nothing (although I gotta 'give props' to its builders- it stayed more or less in one piece!!).  Goes to show just how puny  and vulnerable we and all our works are in the grand scheme of things...
