T-6G Texan FLight

Postby JW49 » Sun Aug 08, 2004 4:24 pm

Has anyone on this forum taken the T-6G Texan aerobatics flight offered by "North American Top Gun" out of Florida?  My kids bought me the one hour "Dream Flight" for Fathers Day.  They know what I like.  I'll be flying it here in Henderson Kentucky on Sept. 25th.  Just looking for any comments about your experience.

I've taken the 1/2-hour ride on the Warbirds Adventure SNJ/T-6 that fly out of Kissimmmee, Florida.   I still savor the photos and video.  if they've sprung for the full hour and aerobatics, you're extremely fortunate!

THe nice thing about the "Warbird Experience" ride is that *as the airplane is climbing on take off* the instructor-pilot in the rear says over the intercom - "Okay, it's your stick - keep it out of the clouds!"  and from that point you're at the stick and rudder, (he wisely keeps the hand on the throttle).

He talked me through a few loops, split S and an eight point roll ..

Definately worth every penny from what I have heard, enjoy the flight for everyone who cannot do it! ;-)

i have a friend who has flown about 20 minutes with a T-6...i think somewhere in Florida. it was around 150 bucks...half the price as for the P-51. he's an airline transport pilot and could write the 20 mins into his logbook between his Avro hours  ;)
Raw power...the J-58.

Thanks for the replys.  I'm really looking forward to this experience.  Just from my sim work, I can tell that it's going to be a big difference from the C172 that I had Flown a 30 min. discovery in.  And yes Bones, there are two places that I know of in Florida that offer these flights......."Warbirds" in Kissimee, and "North American Top Gun" in St Augustine.  Top Gun is the one that tours the country and is the one coming here to our airport.
