I found this interesting article on HowStuffWorks and I thought I would share it with anyone (like me) who wants to be an airline pilot when they are old enough ...

What is your take on the aviation business? Is it worth the risk to be a pilot? Is training and certification really that expensive and time-consuming? What is the chance you'll make it in this business?

As for the artical i may have missed it but it seems to fail to mention the fact that it will cost upwards of $40,000 maybe even $50,000's to get to the big leagues. plus the age requirement of 23, all in the end to work for barely enough to live for a few years.(obviously not always the case) its a great life if you get lucky, its a hard life if your not(thats what i was told) always rewarding but hard.

I hope the aviation business grows, there is probably cut throat competition here with all the pilot lay offs.  
                                                                                                                                                                                  The only risk I see in being a pilot is if you have          A. dangerous personality to be flying with,                      B.  only training you get for your future is flying, what if 5 years down the road, I get into a vehicle crash and loose my feet? everything I worked towards would mean almost nothing.  What job would I pick up with only flight training?

Unfortunately flight training is expensive unless you go the military route. (Im not sure if the military gives you civilian licenses that carry over after your out of the service) The training is taking quite some time right now, its dragging on and on, and it looks like Im going to be 3-4 weeks here after the semester finish. (Im at fault for what I did last semester)

Chances of making it.........
I don't know and I really don't care at the moment, I just keep it simple and say "I will have a flying job."

I have a friend that's a flight instructor for Delta Airlines, and he instructs in small single and twin engine aircrafts. He told me last year he spent more then 60k on schooling.
