He who lands on the nearest runway, lives to fly on another day!
Not really a laughing matter I know, but I'm an inveterate smart-alek....sorry!
Excellent video, and just as applicable today as it was then! Just ask the young Kennedy, I think it was....George....did the whole VFR into inadvertant IFR into a graveyard spiral thing. I know it costs more, by a fair amount, but IMO, every pilot should have at least the basics of IFR training, if not the full rating, and practise it as often as possible, for as they say, "S*&^ happens!" Even the best pilot in the world, the best trained, cautious, intelligent, safety consciuos pilot can make a single, fatal mistake in judgement. We are ALL of us human, and therefore fallible. I think the longest lived pilots are the ones whose luck bucket just had that little extra in it than all the rest, and they managed to live through the mistakes that killed other pilots. I know for a fact that my father, well into his 90's now, had quite a number of very lucky events that saved him from an early grave. He was a Naval FI in the AT-6/SNJ's and then went to work for UAL till he retired. I can recall a few times Mom looking extremely worried till he came thru the door, and SHE was a Pan Am stew till they got married.
Any way, thanks for the great vids, appreciate the posting!
Great flights to all!
Pat~
