Sad article...

This article is a good illustration why I think society today has a distorted view of aviation....and also shows why I really do not like airliners....unless they are vintage...

I see your comment below the article, Adam. And you do have a point there. I don't enjoy commercial flight any more. Being born in the early 50s I can remember traveling in a world where people dressed properly and airline staff made you feel at home. Absolutely no security crap to go through and you didn't feel like you were being herded by sheep dogs. I can drive Toronto to Chicago (600 miles) faster than I could fly. Considering 1 hour commute to Pearson, required to arrive 2 to 3 hours early, clear security and customs at either end, 1+ hour flight, circle O'hare for at least an hour, spend the hour it takes to claim baggage and find land transportation to my final destination an hour from O'hare. I would rather hop in the car and go. <<t

Yes sir Steve! Now the next thing is, how can we turn this around? I say expose every child you can to REAL planes and REAL flying. Preserve the local airshow, promote local fly-ins, and if you are a pilot for pete's sake take 'em flying!

Perhaps they just don't know that air travel can still provide time to enjoy the scenery.
