F1 own a unpayable debt to Sir (professor) Sid Watkins. His book "Life at the Limit: Triumph and Tragedy in Formula One" is a very addictive read.

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

His wife's (semi/occasionally authorised) biography of Bernie has an interesting look at the relationship between the Professor and Bernie.

IIRC it was a coincidence that Sid first met his wife on the weekend of the 1982 Canadian Grand Prix - a tragic weekend in itself.
