Dumb question...

Postby skoker » Fri Aug 12, 2011 1:36 am

I had my check engine light go on the other day, and i fixed the problem.  But now when I check for trouble codes it shows that their is still one incomplete test, and I'm due for inspection, so....

Is there a way to find out what the incomplete test is? :)

What kind of car is it and how is it telling you there is an incomplete test?

If your car has an electronic management, and the techs who inspected it did not tell said management that EVERY test was made... go to them, open their heads with an hatchet, spit inside, then close the opening with barbed wire... this finished, make then them put the electronics in your car in "non-annoying" mode, and then, for last, next time you have to go for an inspection, choose someone who knows how to do their work instead. 8-)
There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.

So where is the dumb part?  :-?
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

Hmm.. could be the crash test. I've had two cars that had errant warning lights because of a bad "chip". (onboard computer chip)

I suggest just run it through the inspection and see what they tell you. Both of my cars with bad chips were Pontiac Firebird and Chevy Cavalier. It turned out there was thousands of aftermarket chips from Korea with software glitches. They worked fine for a while and then would start giving false readings.(GM products) It could also be that rather cheap yellow thing your holding! No offence intended! ;)

Agreed... costs you nothing to have them diagnose it for you, and you will get an extension on your time to have it corrected.

How do you know that "INC" means incomplete test. The paperwork, codes and instructions don't mention that report with my reader?

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

No , the mention not even a hint at what the incomplete test could be.  I've looked everywhere to try and find it and turned up nothing.

You could try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. In many models that will reset the onboard chip. Then you would run another test and see what comes up.
