Ferrari Fail?

Please understand before reading the rant below, that I consider the Ferrari nameplate to be the finest road-going automobiles ever made and for the most part (348 Mondial excepted) are without flaw, they just have unique character traits. ;)

My eager anticipation of finally seeing the production version of the new 458 Italia, has turned into sheer astonishment as to how they could let this car out of the shop looking like this, and I'm convinced that Enzo is spinning in his grave over this one. :'(

I've been following the 458 Italia for a while, and loved all of the concept drawings, and workhorse prototype shots that I was able to find, however, I must say I'm rather disappointed with

I'm thinking this could be another case of waiting until you see it in the flesh, I find a lot of Ferrari's look a lot better in real life. Agree with you on the grill, but I think the profile could well be stunning in real life.

I LOVE it.

The HUGE brake discs, racing rear diffuser... who cares what the grill looks like? When you're driving you can't see it!

I want one.

:o  8-)  :-*

I have to agree with rob.
But also that it looks fantastic. They failed massively with the California. It's horrible its ugly and its just not a proper Ferrari IMO. They redeemed themselves with the 16M, and have now won back my love with the 458.
I cant wait to start seeing some reviews and test drives, it just looks like it's going to surpass the 430 by leaps and bounds.

Why complain about things you can not afford anyhow? I think it's a nice looking car, its red, it has nice lines and it's probably very expensive...

Crash ;)

I think that Ferrari hit a homerun with the F430 and found it a reason to include design elements of that into the 458. There are also design cues from the Enzo. I think the side profile is a thing of beauty. The front is different, but something I could get used to real quick. Overall, I think its another beauty in the Ferrari lineup.

That could be, I felt that way about the Enzo at first, but it was much

for ferrari's these days styling i find has to be looked at differently to the past cars. They wont have the classic beauty of the 355 or the older 250. They have a modern look that is very pleasing to the eye.
Personally I hate the 599's looks, yet a lot of people love it. I much prefer the 612 in that case.

They do seem to be ditching the sexy 'feminized' styling of the past for more of that Lamborghini 'tech & science' look. I hope they just don't go very extreme with it.

I love the 612 and liked the way they evolved it into the 599, I just wish the had stayed with a quad tail lamp set up, and not added those flying buttresses at the C-pillars.

If you look at the 599, the 2008 Corvette, and the Dodge Viper, they almost look as though they were made from the same mold.

If you pull the flying buttresses from the Ferrrari, it almost becomes a twin to the Vette.
