News this morning from Istanbul.
the drivers met with FOTA and they are all united behind them in the row.  (hardly surprising)
And FOTA are now considering how to organise a breakaway series next year. According to very watered down sources, it would be the FOTA teams running 3 cars per team. Ferrari already rumored to have the Raikkonen, Massa, Alonso line up. Which to me is a virtual dream team.
They've also said they will make the cars as they should be. The fastest possible and none of this artificial dumbing down crap.
I really hope this is true. Just watching the highlights of the last few Turkish GP's, You have the beauty (in my opinion) of the 2006 cars, the speed of the 2007's, and the challenge of the 2008's. Quite honestly, this years cars have done nothing in terms of the show, oooh they wiggle around a little under braking. Whoopy, this time last year we had a BMW leading the championship, and an almighty title fight getting ready to kick off. This year its a 2004 repeat of two cars who could lap the field in almost every race if they wanted to, playing with the field.
I say bring on the split

I'll be honest, I couldn't care less about the older teams. They were and are still a part of the legend of F1, they paved the way, but they are gone and some independent team buying up the rights to use a name doesn't do the legacy of the real teams any good.
Lotus for instance, run by lightspeed a team with virtually no connection to the original F1 team. I believe they may be operating out of the old factory, but thats it.

Brabham. The Brabham name owners dont want it being used and theres a lawsuit going on to block it.

March. If I remember correctly March ended their run in F1 at the back of the field making a joke of themselves.

If these guys come in to an artificial series thats nothing like the F1 they used to compete in, then how is that a good thing? Colin Chapman made his name creating cars that pushed the boundries of what was possible at the time. I dont doubt he'd have no interest in whats being proposed for 2010.
