Posted: Fri Jan 04, 2008 5:50 pmAttacking the rally would be very easy to do. First of all because they are so spread out it's very hard to keep security tight. Picking out a single truck, car or motorcycle would be piece of cake. Second of all, they camp at night. Shooting one rocket inside the camp from a distance would be very distructive.
Now I can understand that the organisation cancelled the rally. I just think they did it at the wrong moment. Like Jan de Rooy (Dutch truck contestant) said tonight; I wouldn't have mind if they stopped the rally at the Mauratanian border. At least we wouldn't have prepared for nothing and we would have had a few days of rallying.
Rumours are that this will be the last Dakar for a very long time......
