Well I was recently looking at some track days, when I came across a cheap one at Mallory park. However it also turned out they offer an F1 drive experience there aswell. several warm up laps in a lower class car, then 8 laps in a 90's maybe ever 80's? tyrell car, not 100% sure, but its got the full manual gear box so it's pretty old. Then a further 8 laps driven round in a sports car by a pro. price is

You should do neither.  You really want to give me that money so I can piss it away on airplanes 8-) and booze :o (in that order)

But if thats not attractive enough, then I would ask myself "do I want the experience of driving on a real F-1 circuit, or do I want to just drive?"

Thats the way I am thinking. I love Magny Cours as a track, and even though it's only 4 laps, the track it a hell of a lot longer than Mallory parks circuit. But with todays exchange rate, that option is almost $6000's

And I am glad you said in that order. ;D

And I got really excited when you said "thats the way I am thinking", then I read the rest of the sentence :P

Should you............................Na, F1 drivers are all gay and you would not want to be associated with that would you :D

Craig, what a question, stop thinking about it and tell me (us) what it was like.

$6000 seems a bit steep, here seems a bit more reasonable. Scroll to page 7 for prices.

Excellent link Matt  8-)

Go for what ever you feel Craig, but remember this is potentially a once in a lifetime experience... You may as well go for the best that you can, even if it means saving up for a few months (years even) and getting the most out of it.

Hi matt.
I hesitated when saying reasonable. Lets face it, that sort of cash going down the drain on soemthing that lasts only a few laps would be considered madness by most.
But as CD said, it's a once in a lifetime experience that really is worth saving for. I suppose for me its a little easier because I still have very few financial commitments, and no significant other to eat it all up.
I really might just save another year and go with yours, the thought of getting my hands on that jordan is rather tempting. Not sure whos supposed to have run their Ferrari look alike though?

Money down the drain, that covers just about every hobby there is. The answer is to cut back for a while on other stuff. Once my children are out of day care (half my mortgage :o) then little pleasures like this become possible. In principal, Mr The-Ex-Pat is not against it, just at the moment she is against it and to be truthful she is right. It is firmly on my list of things that will happen and not the list of "would be nice if I could". Anyway, if I wait a few more years, there may be an old Ferrari or McLaren or Williams doing the rounds at one of these places.....Never say never.
