I AM Crazy!

Postby Jared » Fri Mar 31, 2006 4:21 pm

So the other day I'm browsing ebay just looking around to see what they have for my old 65 comet and I ran across this...

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imagese ... oldkey.jpg

I only paid 32.50 for it  :P and as I see it, it is totally worth the little bit of money now to have an original key as all of the keys I have for my comet now are just copied ones... :)

To put your mind at rest Jared, if I were in your shoes i'd have done exactly the same thing!! It makes a really cool 'finishing touch' - not to mention it is one of the coolest looking car key's out there.

Nice find - you made the right choice.

Thats neat, I would have bought it too.  Especially since it is such a unquie looking original key.  Just some advice though, when you go to have it cut to fit your car-take it to be done at a locksmith to make sure its done right.

I wish my car had a cool looking original key like that.  But, it doesn't.   :'(

Worth every penny for it!!.

I didn't know you had a Comet.  My Dad had a 1964 Falcon Sprint Conv. with a 260c.i..  I loved that car so now I'm looking for one that I can restore.

I was raised in a Ford Family.  My first word was Ford!! ;D

lol, thanks for the advice richie, I'm actually planning on havng my dad take it in to where he works where there are a few people that actually teach practices such as cuttting keys, picking locks and a variety of other things I probably shouldn't discuss online. :)

And yes Willit, my grandpa bought it as a project car a long time ago now and was in the process of restoring it to give to me when I graduated from college...unfortunately he passed away and I'm stuck working on it :( But it gives me something to do :)

a little background once again:
1965 Mercury Comet Caliente
289 V8 2bbl
4 - stock automatic tranny
AM radio :D no fm :(
but it does have power steering and power brakes :)

I hope we'er on the same page. I owned while in the Air Force a 71 Mercury Comet. I miss her terrible. She was Canary Yellow. She had a 305 bored 40 over. Oversized pistons,clutch,C4 trannie with the speed shifter on the colume. A Paxton supersharger, blower scoop, air ride adjustable rear end, and she was very loud. When I would fire her up in the morning heading for the hanger you could hear it a qtr mile down the road. she was idled so low she sounded like a drag car about to stall out. Chrome Kragers.......Ahhhhhhhhhhhh....Man I miss her so.... Had I kept her I wanted to paint her gunmetal grey and toss two K-40 whip antennas on her trunk for my CB and Scanner. As the Comet/Ford Maverick were simular in body they alwas looked like a big RC car to me. The antennas would of been a nice touch ;D. Alas she got to expensive to maintain so I sold her back to the guy I bought it from. :(  Ah memories.........................
