Spotted this old veteran in Manhattan the other day: a proper Land Rover, not one of those modern pretenders... quite a few of these in NYC, but usually driven by artists, etc... note the "MD" plates... ;D

Now thats a Land Rover.  I'm a Ford Person but,  their Land rovers are to fluff.  Would never be able to do what the originals could.

Rotty that isn't an original Landie mate, the Series 1 was different (inboard lights for a start).
For more info on one of Britains finest wheeled vehicles check out http://www.landroverclub.net/Club/HTML/ ... _Trust.htm
I think the one you've taken snaps of is a IIA (my favourite model BTW) ;)

I was going to say that it's a Series 3 and therefore not a proper Land Rover. The Series 1 and 2 were the real deal.

The inboard lights were dropped in about 1968 with the Series IIA I believe. :)

Spotter!

Yes? ;D

Series III. Biggest giveaway is the plastic radiator grille. The Series IIA's still had the wire mesh. Also the wingmirrors are mounted on the doors and I think the hinges are mounted further apart on the Series III.

Spotter!

I'll stop now. ;D

Didn't say it was the first series; just pointing out that  it's not the latest model...  ;)
