Three driving Mustangs, and one flying

Cheers Theis
I know which one I prefer! Amazingly enough, the connection goes further than the name. The Ford motor company (GB) did wonders for the Rolls Royce (and hence the Packard) Merlin too...
When R-R first proposed Ford producing the engine they were worried whether a motor company would be able to match and produce the correct tolerances in the manufacture of the engine. When Ford saw R-R tolerances, they laughed, and pointed out to R-R that they were already producting their products to tolerances several times better than R-R were producing the Merlin! Hence for produced a much better manufactured Merlin!
