This is taken from ITV's F1 site, an interview with mansell. Personally i think it was Bernie who was the one To tell him to do the slow start, no one had more money invested in the Scumi Hill battle at the time than him, and this was the days when schumi had no real pull with the brass. Personally i hope this admission brings about an investigation to proove the person responsible because its no differant than match fixing. Just because it didnt work out. Or in a way i suppose it did costing Hill the championship.

[quote]It would be nice if my final F1 win at Adelaide in 1994 was one of the happiest memories of my career. Unfortunately it was probably the worst moment of my life.

We arrived in Australia with the two hotshoes, Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill, competing for the World Championship.

But look at the history books and they

that year they were lightyears ahead of the competition, however that whole weekend which was the title deciding race, Mansell was very strong. Obviously they powers that be (bernie & max) were selling it as the big title fight and they didn't want anyone "getting in the way" Sadly Nigel did just that and a great driver gets treated like crap.

even worse was the fact Mansell only took part in 4 or 5 races that season, he had just returned from america after winning the champ or was it indycar? title and had brought alot of fans with him from america. he was filling in after the death of Ayrton Senna. The guys at the top couldn't see the huge amount of money to be made in the long term. ::)
