First episode last night for us Yanks! I have been pestering BBC America for about a year, and last night the first episode was played. . .on the Discover Channel . Oh well I am happy. The episode was one with the Merc. SLR, 360 CS v. GT3 RS, Rolls Phantom, Pidgeon v. Car, car darts, Maserati Spyder, etc.

To the british viewers, what episode did we see? was it one from last year? was it your season premier show? ever even heard of this episode?

it sounds like one from 2 seasons ago. If it had the team of Clarkson hammond and May then its pretty recent. I know the one your on about they get much better. Is it weekly over there?

I would assume that it is weekly. The only guy i recognize is Clarkson

Car darts was the opener 2 seasons ago .......so its about 12 months old ..... im sure you'll enjoy it though  ;D

I thought the show was something different.  

The USA already has a neat show like it on SPEED.  Its called, (get this), "Fifth Gear".  Its almost the exact same thing, but with Americans, and more American cars.  

I do like Top Gear though, its always nice to have more car shows on!

Hmm. . .why was he fired from top gear?

not sure, i would imagine his time just came up. They do presenter changes every few years to keep it fresh. However right now this is the best line up they have ever had. However with clarkson having two slipped discs in his back and not being allowed to drive, it could be a differant person again, if he doesnt get better. They did suggest, Sabine from the nurburgring. She would be a nice addition.

The beeb had a big Top Gear shake up, which left Tiff Needell & Quentin Wilson starting another show called 5th Gear - 5th gear being the 'top gear' in cars at that time!! Most of my friends never realised how slyly they were trying to say that the new show was 'Top Gear'. LOL.

Still think that the new Top Gear is the best ever, best format, best presenters - there's no weak link!

Most of them I will never get to rest my rump in, but on 5th Gear I believe they had the Dodge SRT-4.  That is in a reasonable price range

5th Gear is British?  They have American hosts, and American cars.

I am guessing they bought the rights to be shown in the US and made the show to their likings but sharing the name. It sounds like the British version is also shown in the US. Or it could just be a co-incidence.
