OK so in our aircraft systems class we have defined the fact that a hemi engine has a hemi-spherical piston...go figure..:-)

Anyways, we have a big debate going on on whether or not the piston head is concave or domed...

I'm not sure which would work best...

the domed would give better compression...

but the concave would allow the piston to come up farther before hitting the valves, thus giving you better compression...

I've done some searching around the other day and didn't find much information supporting either type.

Our question is about the Hemi engines used in the Dodge vehicles....;-)

The Hemi pistons are domed (but I don't know how much).
