Hey, I thought you guys might enjoy this.  I have been looking for an original ad for a 1969 Camaro online that I could frame and display with my car at shows.  Anyway, I found the one I wanted online the other day and bought it for like $7.00 (its out of the July '69 issue of Car and Driver Magazine).  Now, I need to find a matte and frame that I like to put it in.

Anyway, I thought you guys (especially the younger guys like me who aren't very familiuar with the advertising of the 1960s) would like to see it.  Here's a pic of it:

Actually, the GTO was redesigned because of the success of the Camaro and its sister the Firebird.  The fuel crisis ultatimately killed the GTO, but the Camaro caused its popularity in the last 60s to decline.

Actually the fuel crisis with the rising EPA standards and Insurance rates made the GTO decline on to the Lemans then Ventura platform, ultimatly killing it.

This is another Ad my dad has in the Goat

Thats what killed all the muscle cars.  But, one of the main reasons it was redesigned following 1967 was due to the success of the 2 F-Body cars (specifically the Camaro).  The Judge was popular (was were all GTOs) but it never rereached the standard it was at in the mid-1960s.

True and true, 1966 was the climax of the GTO's with 90K+ being sold. When they changed the body style in 1968 the GTO won Car of the Year, but when they stayed with the body I think the Camaro won the '69 Car of the Year.  Also the Camaro/Firebird were built to compete with the Mustang, the car that GM wanted to out sell.
