Amphibious or Flying Cars

Postby FLYING_TRUCKER » Sat Aug 28, 2004 1:51 pm

I don't normally post is this section but I was curious if anyone would have information to post on amphibious or flying cars?
I am sure the military has amphibious vehicles but are there any civilian/commercial ones and are they still being made?
Thanks :)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

IN the sixties, the "Amphicar" from Germany made a splash.  It was a two seat drophead coupe, and had a somewhat boxy appearance.    It looked awkward but the rear end sported two propellers.

Over the years, several "Aerocars" have been proposed, and one type enjoyed a cult like following, and I believe some still exist.

In the early seventies, a Ford Pinto was modifed to accept a set of wings and empennage, with a pusher prop.  The engine was a rear set 4-cyl horizontally opposed aircraft engine.
